Creative Opportunity: Disability – Past and Present project

By July 19th, 2022No Comments

The Devil’s Porridge Museum is seeking an artist to commission an artwork that will be the centrepiece to an exhibition as part of our Disability: Past and Present project, in November 2022. The exhibition will showcase the experiences of disabled and chronically ill people who worked on the Solway Military Coast during WW1 and WW2. We are looking for an artist to create a piece that takes inspiration from the research we have uncovered about disability and chronic illness within our collections, and will contribute to making the exhibition an interactive, multi-sensory space.

Eligibility: This opportunity is open to artists at all stages of their career, but we particularly welcome applications from artists who identify as disabled and/or chronically ill.

Contract type: Freelance commission, artwork due by 25th October 2022

Fee: £2000

How to apply: To apply, please read the brief below and email your proposal to laura@devilsporridge.org.uk by 23:59 on 15 August 2022
