Dudley marten Lougee was born at Manningham , Bradford on 13th August 1897 to Greeley Haigh Lougee , a Canadian, and Catherine Edith nee Clapham.

1911 staying at Conishead Priory, Ulverston – a Hydropathic institution . He is the eldest of 2 brothers a third child had died. Father a bank manager.
Giggleswick School ( near Settle, N Yorkshire) register gives us the following :-
“Left Giggleswick school December 1913. During the Great War was Assistant Paymaster, Dornock Ministry of Munitions of War, H M Factory Gretna. Holly Bank Heaton, Bradford”.
