Edward Harrison Yarker was born in September 1898 at Carlisle to William James and Hannah nee Scott
1901 he is the youngest of 4 sons living at Randall Court, Carlisle. Father an electric light fireman.
1911- 36 Sheffield St, Carlisle, 4 rooms. Father a fireman for the Cooperative society
6th January 1915-of 36 Sheffield St, Carlisle joined 8th (Reserve) Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders aged 17years 5 months . Territorial attestation.
31st May 1915- he was discharged on grounds of Para 392 ( iv) (a) King’s Regulations
Vi )– having been claimed as an apprentice a) recruit rejected by both recruiting officer and medical officer
1916 onwards – worked at Gretna
1921 – listed as an ex Gretna worker. Edward , Lily, Hannah and 1 other in Carlisle
1922 Q2 married Beatrice Robinson, Carlisle
