“Here is a photo of my Granny Elizabeth McGreechan (Betty) and also a the Silver shoehorn which was used by the King on his visit to the Explosive Factory with the Queen in 1917. My Granny being the Forewoman (FW) had the honour of helping the King change his shoes using the shoehorn and after was presented with the engraved shoehorn, which my Granny always treasured. My Granny was from Penicuik Midlothian outside Edinburgh and went back and forth by bicycle whenever possible.”
– Some information kindly shared by Elizabeth McGreechan’s relative.

Shoe horn given to Betty. Notably, her last name McGeechan is spelt incorrectly on the engraving. It should be spelt with ‘ee’ rather than ‘ea.’
