Ernest pepper was born on 8th February at ‘The Bield’, Little Langdale, Westmorland, to Joseph Greenop Pepper and Elizabeth nee Tyson.
1891- Living at ‘The Bield’, Father a slate miner.
1901 – Same address. Father a slate quarryman. Ernest is an apprentice joiner. 2nd of 8 children listed.
1911- same address. Father a ‘River in slate quarry’. 10 children born, 8 surviving, 6 rooms.
23rd May 1915 – married Susannah Mounsey at Langdale, Westmorland.
August 1915 – on separate dates- 2 brothers died at sea – Gallipoli.

1918/19- employed at H M Factory, Gretna as a joiner living at 5N West, Gretna.
1921- Ernest, Susannah and Winifred are on the record in the Ruydal and Loughrigg. (Ambleside) district.
1939- Grass Ings, near Kendal, Westmorland, carpenter and joiner.
22nd January 1964 – died at Barbon Manor Lodge, Kirby Lonsdale, Westmorland aged 78.
