Trivia / any other information: Fawcett was a labourer before he joined the Royal Irish Constabulary on 06/04/1872, aged 19. His police number was 38568. He was allocated to County Mayo on 31/10/1872. (5)
According to the Petty Session records of Foxford, Co. Mayo, he made a number of arrests concerning people having no dog licenses, and allowing their cows to wander on a public road.
Fawcett resigned from the Irish police force on 04/01/1874 “ to better himself ” and moved to London. (5)
He joined the police at Great Scotland Yard on 16/03/1874 and was appointed acting sergeant on 12/04/1885. (4)
In 1881 he was living in 1, Victoria Villas, Chestnut Road, Tottenham with his wife Sarah and three children (2)
He resigned from the police (Highgate Division) on 16/07/1889 on a pension of £24 19s. 3d per annum. He was described as being 5 ft. 8 1/4 inches tall, brown hair, grey eyes and a fair complexion. His address at the time of his resignation was 27, Ranelagh Road, Wood Green, London. (4)
