Childhood: Hector was born in Northern Ireland where he stayed till c1900. By 1902 the family had settled in Manchester, Lancashire.
Parents: David Crozier (1862 – ?) Wilhelmina Mann Crozier, M/S McIver
Parent’s occupations: David was a clerk at a Chemical Works in North Manchester.
Schools / universities attended and years of attendance: The Museum records show M.I. after his name. I don’t recognise the qualification. Maybe Member of the Institute (of Chemistry?).
Occupation: Prior to WW1 Hector Crozier worked for Levinstein Ltd. Aniline Colour Manufacturers, Blackley, Manchester.
Volunteered on 21st June 1915. At first With the Royal Highlanders then transferred to the Royal Engineers and promoted to Corporal. Saw service on the Western Front from 29th September 1915 to 11th September 1916 when he was transferred to Class ‘W’ Army Reserve. ‘Explosive Supply Stores’. (HM Factory Gretna)
Following the war he continued to work as a chemist. In 1926 he sailed to Valparaiso, Antofagasta, Chile and worked for Anglo Chilean Nitrate as a chemist.
In 1936 he described himself as a Technical Chemist.
By 1941 he had become General Manager of The Lautaro Nitrate Co. in Chile. In 1948 he was described as Assistant General Manager. By 1949 he had become a Director. In 1958 he was Vice-President and in 1959 Exec Vice-President.
