Horace Montague Hughes was born in Burton on Trent on 21st November 1891 to John Hughes and Kate Maria nee Fisher .
1895 and 1898 there is evidence of school admissions for Horace. Infant and Junior departments.
1901 – living at back of 80 Mosley Street, Burton-on Trent , father a brewer.
1911, living at 34 Ordish St, Burton on Trent in 6 rooms. Father a maltster and Horace a brewer’s labourer. 7 surviving children of 9. G/B/B/B/B listed as living at home. Army Ordnance Corps Sherwood Foresters
April 1915 married May Hoe in Burton n Trent.
17th April 1915-1st November 1918 was in Sherwood Foresters Army Ordnance Corps then Discharged as wounded .
Possibly deployed at Gretna as part of AOC.
