Biography

FB Message from relative: my Great Grandfather Hugh Carey worked in the factory and lived I think in Eastriggs. He came down to Gretna from Stevenston where he worked at the Ardeer factory. I think he moved to Gretna with a number of brothers and sisters (also Carey) Hugh had one arm by the time he got to Gretna-there had been an accident at the Ardeer plant sometime before. Unblocking a frozen pipe in the nitro glycerine plant! A very hard life.
