John Thomas known as Tom was born in Haslingden , Lancashire on 19th April 1891 to John and Annis nee Barnes.
There is no census record for The Margerison’s in 1891.
July 1898 – John Thomas was admitted to Knuzden St Oswald’s C E School, Oswaldtwistle.
1901 – 39, Picadilly St, Haslingden. Father a cotton overlooker. Mother is Ann . John T is the 5th eldest child at home at the time. G/G/G/G/B/G
1911- at 7 Whittaker Tce, Haslingden, 6 rooms. Father is A Cotton loom overlooker. John is cotton weaver. His parents have had 10 children, 2 died , 8 survived. B/G/B/B/G/G/B/B
WW1 – John is likely to have spent the duration at Gretna in an engineering capacity as this was occupation later. He is also likely to have lived in one of the hostels. He is seen seated in this photograph with two of his brothers in uniform.
In 1921 he is listed as an ex Gretna worker living in Haslingden with Mary Jane plus 5 others. Later indications are that these are all siblings.
1939 – John Thomas -Tom- is listed as single , a garage owner and engineer living at 7 Jubilee Road, Haslingden. He is also a special constable with Lancashire constabulary based at the Haslingden station. He is living with 6 siblings.
He died on 26th September 1967 at Haslingden.
