Mary Ann Hewitt Car was born on 25th December 1897 in Sunderland to Isaac and Dorothy Ann nee Thompson
1901- living at 1a, Murrygate Street , Sunderland ( difficult to decipher on census. ) Father a rivetter. 3rd child B/B/G
1911- 24 Warren Street, Sunderland. Father a” rivetter shop iron and steel”. Had 11 children, 6 survived. 8 people living in 2 rooms. Resident Offspring raging from 22 to 4 months.
WW1 – munition worker at Gretna.
1920 – married Andrew Ritchie in Sunderland . Subsequently had 5 children
1921 -Mary A H and Andrew on census.
1939-15, Smithfield South, Durham. “ munition worker H.M.Factory Gretna”
15th June 1959 died and is buried at Ryhope Cemetery Sunderland . Aged 62
