Violet Wright 1902-1959
Violet Wright was born on 13th August 1902 in South Shields , Durham to James and Josephine nee Wetherell.
1911 living at 26 Coleridge Avenue, Low Fell, Gateshead. Father cahier ironmongers , in 5 rooms. Violet the eldest of 4 children. G/G/B/B
Violet was only 12 at the outbreak of war and would be one of the youngest workers at H M Factory Gretna.
1921 – listed on census as an ex Gretna worker. Violet, James, Josephine and 5 others are listed in Carlisle. It is possible that other family members including her father worked at Gretna.
April 1932 – married James Redpath of Glendale, Wooler, Northumberland. Perhaps he also worked at Gretna. They had at least 2 children including a son James in 1934.
1939 living at ‘Cleveleys’, Victoria Rd, Glendale, Wooler. James a builder and contractor as well as ARP warden.
23rd November 1959 – died at Walkergate Hospital, Newcastle on Tyne aged 57 of ‘Holmedale’ Victoria Road, Wooler.
