William Percy Neville 1898-1977

William Percy Neville was born in London on 19th June 1898 to James and Adeline nee Greenwood.

1901-living at 262 Packington Street N1. Father a typewriter fitter , mother a dressmaker – own account.

28th August 1904, James, Adeline and all four children admitted to Holborn Union, St Luke’s Workhouse. City Road Holborn

30th August 1904 – discharged from Workhouse.

30th January 1907 admitted to Mayford industrial School Reformatory for boys, Mayford, Woking, aged 9

1912Inmate at Mayford Industrial School Reformatory for boys, Woking. Aged 14. .

18th August 1913 – joined Royal Marines. Aged 15.

WW1 – employed at Gretna – 1921 census lists him as an ex Gretna worker.

1921- married

1921 Sarah Veronica Gilbertson in Carlisle.

1921 census places William and Sarah in Carlisle

1923 – daughter born.

1939- Overseer manufacturer of waterproof materials also Pensioner RMB (Royal Marine Battallion living at 146 Empire Avenue , Edmonton, London N 18. Married but no wife listed on the register. She is listed at that address on the 1939 electoral register.

1950- living at Glendale, Los Angeles. William occupation maintenance.

1956 – sailed back to Southampton from New York to 47 Marton, Queensway, Southgate N14.

14th February 1977, died Dover aged 78
