Our car park has two spaces for blue badge holders. If you would like assistance getting from the car park to the museum or Café, please let a member of our team know. They would be happy to help you.

The Devil’s Porridge Museum has a step free entrance across the road from the carpark. The museum has an automatic door which may open when you open when you walk towards it.

To the right and around the corner is the entrance to our Café. This has a step free door and even paving slabs leading up to it. You do not have to go in the museum to use our Café.

The Devil’s Porridge Museum is a modern building with a mezzanine layout and two floors, accessible by a lift and stairs.

The museum is fully accessible by wheelchair and walking frame.

• The museum’s mezzanine layout means that you will hear background noises from different parts of the museum while walking around.
• There are some loud noises around The Devil’s Porridge Museum like explosions and music. This is part of our displays.
• The museum has a flat metal roof, which means that you may hear noise during heavy rainfall or when birds walk on the roof.
• The top floor the museum can be accessed by a lift. This does make some noises while it’s working.
• The stairs to the top floor have handrails on both sides.
• There are chairs throughout the museum where you may sit if you wish.
• There is hand sanitiser throughout the museum, which you are welcome to use.
• Floor surfaces on both floors are flat and level.

The Devil’s Porridge Museum is fully interactive with film clips, audio with headphones and volume control. We have objects throughout the Museum that people can touch. These are located at different heights.

Any paying disabled person can bring an essential carer with them for free. Remember to bring proof of your Carer status with you on the day of your visit.

Assistance and guide dogs are always welcome. Ask a member of our team if you would like some water for your dog.

On Thursdays and Sundays we have a Dog Friendly Days at The Devil’s Porridge Museum. This means all well-behaved, dry dogs on a lead are welcome into our museum. If you’d rather visit us at a time when there is less likely to be dogs, please choose to visit us on a different day.

The toilets are located ground floor of The Devil’s Porridge Museum. They are on the left wall next to the lift and stairs. Please ask a member of our team if you would like directions.

Inside the museum we have:

• An accessible toilet with a baby changing facility.
• A female toilet.
• A male toilet.

An unisex toilet is located in our Café and you would be welcome to use this during your visit to The Devil’s Porridge Museum or our Café.

The closest accessible toilet to our Café is back around inside The Devil’s Porridge Museum.

The Café offers vegetarian and gluten free options. Just ask our Café team for more information. Highchairs are available for babies.

Our Café has high chairs you would be welcome to use and offers a children’s menu.

The Devil’s Porridge Museum welcomes groups of all different sizes throughout the year and we are ideally set up to cater for your needs. Our site is fully accessible with a lift for those with mobility issues.

At The Devil’s Porridge Museum, we have regular events from talks to arts and craft activities and more.

We have previously had quiet opening events where people could go around the museum with all the interactives turned off.

These can be hired from the front desk for £2.50 or are free for anyone with a reading difficultly or visual impairment.

They are available in French, German, Dutch and Mandarin too.

Information sheets are available in German, Polish, French and Spanish from our front desk.

We have two manual wheelchairs that you can borrow for the duration of your visit.

Just let our museum staff know that you would like to borrow one. We would recommend letting us know in advance so we can ensure availability.

Children will be given a Factory Pass from the front desk, which they can stamp during their visit. Remember to show your completed factory pass to a member of our team on the front desk before you leave to earn a small prize.

Please note this prize is for children only.

Grown ups are welcome to have a Factory Pass too if they would like one though. Just ask at the front desk.
