Frederick Irving Mattinson 1902-1956
Frederick Irving Mattinson was born on 11th November 1902 at Carlisle to John and Abigail nee Crone. Known as Fred.
1901- parents living at 24, Trinity Buildings, Caldewgate, Carlisle. Father a joiner.
1911- 10 Peel St, Newtown, Carlisle.5 rooms. 12 children, 11 surviving. B/G/G/G/B/B/B/B/G . The 8th of the 11 surviving . Father a railway joiner.
He was too young for active service at the start of WW1 and was employed at Gretna – listed in 1921 census as an ex Gretna worker.
1917 – father died.
1918 – joined the Royal Navy
His first ship was The Greenwich in September 1918
1921 – living in Carlisle with Abigail, John A and 4 others.
October 1928 – married Lily Beaty in Carlisle
1939- Chief Yeoman of signals Royal Navy Plymouth living at 14 Warleigh Avenue, Plymouth. At least 2 children.
5th August 1956 died aged 54 at North Lodge ,Dovenby, Cockermouth ( hospital) probate to a male nurse.
