John Reddick McCreadie was born at Maybole, Ayrshire on 5th May 1889 to Alexander and Jeanette [ Jeanie ] nee Reddick. The youngest of 2 children.
1891- living at 8 Kirkwynd, Maybole. Father an engine fitter and millwright
1900- father died of general tubercular disease
1901- living at the same address, home to his maternal grandmother.
18th September 1908- joiner journeyman of Burnfoot, Dalmellington, Ayrshire. Married Elizabeth Hill McKie both 19 , at Maybole. They went on to have 3 children
