Biography

‘Jonathon Leah, Newfoundland House, suffered a fatal accident caused by burns from acid. He was repairing a pipe during September 1917 and when he struck it with his hammer acid prayed onto his face. His left eye had to be removed, he never recovered and meningitis later killed him.’ – G Routledge, Gretna’s Secret War, (Bookcase, 1999) p. 39.
