Leigh[ton] William Gandy, sometimes recorded as William Leigh[ton] Gandy, was born on 23rd May 1868b at Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, to William Seymour Gandy and Hannah nee Leigh.  

 

1871- living at 1 Warrington Street, Ashton-under-Lyne. Father is a druggist. Leigh is the 3rd of 4 children.  

 

1881- 10, Church Street, Ashton. Father a wholesale druggist employing 8 men and women. The family now have 6 children.  

 

1891- 66, Stockport Road, Hyde, Cheshire – a bookkeeper, father a chemist and druggist  

 

1901- 4 Church Street, Ashton. Father is now a retired druggist. Leigh is a leather dresser.
