Leonard Orledge was born at Midsomer Norton, Bath, Somerset on 9th July 1892 to Francis Edward Orledge, miller, and Kate Elizabeth nee Yelling.
1901 – living at Hartley Farm Cottage , Shinfield, Berkshire.Father – stockman on farm. B/B/B/B/B/G/G/B
1911-No census info Railway worker record gives employment status from 1907 at Salisbury then Swindon from engine cleaner to 1st Fireman for GWRailways.
There is a gap in his Railway record in 1917/18 when he was at Gretna.

July 1918 – married Florence M Phillips in Salibury.

1921 census indicates that Leonard is an ex Gretna worker. Standlynch with Charlton All Saints
Salisbury, Wiltshire. Leonard, Charles, Ellen M and 4 others are listed.
1939-living at 7 Filipey St, Bristol an Engine Driver GWR. 1 son born November 1918 plus 4 others.
