Milton Jones was born on 31st January 1871 at Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire to Joseph  and Grace nee Calvert  

 

1871 – living at Hoyle Bottom, Luddenden, Sowerby Bridge. Father a farmer of 6 acres and a wool carter  

 

1881- New Holme Cottage, Luddenden. Aged 10 working as a wool doffer. 

 

Q4 1892 – married Emma Jane Moses at Halifax. They subsequently had 4 children, 3 survived.  

 

3rd August 1896- joined the police, occupation was a draper’s traveller.5ft 9 ins tall. (West Yorks Police Records). A damaged right hand.  

 

1901-at 30 Earlsdon Road, West Brightside, Sheffield. A police constable with 3 children.  

 

WW1 – too old for active military service, employed as a police constable at H M Factory, Gretna.  

 

1939- Sworn weighman, retired, living at 307, Huckwell Lane, Nottingham 

 

December 1957 at Nottingham
