Thomas worked as a clerk at the munitions works, this taken from his son Robert John birth certificate, who was born 21st June 1916 at Galaberry Cottages, Annan.

Thomas daughter Lilias Ballantry was born 21st April 1919, 23 Dunedin Road, Eastriggs, where Thomas is working as a wages clerk.

By 1921 census, Thomas was working for Refuge Assurance Co Ltd, as an Insurance Agent, at the same address.

However, Thomas and his family moved to 32 Melbourne Avenue, Eastriggs, where wife Jeannie died 12th June 1945, and Thomas died there on 18th October 1956.
