1871- living at 8 Cato Bank, Carlisle. Eldest of three. B/B/G . Father a Cotton weaver

1881 aged 20 – general labourer . living at Stubbs Court, Carlisle. Mother died.

1891 – living at Church House, Lodging House, Gateshead, a dyer . 2 sisters also there.

Quarter 3 1891 married Sarah nee Wilkinson of Cleator Moor

1901- living at 11 Russell Street, Rickergate, Carlisle, a general labourer.

1911 – living at 4 Mary’s Court, South John St, Carlisle, a window cleaner, 3 rooms. Had 10 children, 7 surviving.
