1901 – living at 46 Cavalry Street, east Wymer, Norwich, father a labourer in starch yard. 2nd of 6 children.  


25th December 1912 – married Jessie Wright Abbott in Dundee, Scotland. Father listed as a musician and William listed as a grocer’s assistant of 16 Baffin Street, Dundee.  


1918/19- employed at H M Factory Gretna as a fireman living at 25 Annan Road, Gretna with wife Jessie (Electoral Register)  


1921- Living alone on the Isle of Wight 


1935 – Wife Jessie drowned. Fireman with wife, 25 Annan Road Gretna.
