In the aftermath of the First World War, the people of Britain needed a focus for their grief, loss and pride. War memorials were erected across the UK in the greatest wave of remembrance this nation has ever seen.
Dornock Parish War Memorial was ordered on 19th November 1919 by J.M. Latimer, Secretary, Memorial Committee, Dornock, Eastriggs Dumfriesshire at a cost of £266.10/- with an extra charge for building steps and another for labour. It was erected on 28th September 1920 and unveiled on 2nd October 1920.
