John William Yeomans 1891-1968
John William Yeomans was born on 15th May 1891 at Longtown near Carlisle to Agricultural labourer Joseph Yeomans and Jane nee Glendinning.
1901- living at Quarry Gate , Wreay near Carlisle , father a gardener- domestic servant. John is the second of 9 children. G/B/B/B/G/B/B/G/G . 3 died aged about 1.
1911 living at Lingey Close Head, Dalston a calico printer labourer. Father now an estate woodman – presumable for Dalston Hall, the only large estate employer in the vicinity. They lived in 4 rooms and had had 10 children with 6 surviving. This census lists B/B/G/B/B
27th November 1915 married Elizabeth Porter in Carlisle.

1916- attested to Royal Field Artillery as a signaller according to service record Only C1 fit. Wife and 2 children by 1918 quoted on service record. Address given is Station House,Dalston. There could be a possible link to Robert Thomas and Jacob Carrick ( full biographies on file). Decalred with diasability in 1918 “ not caused by military service “. “ Under chest measurement and scar under right angle of mouth”
Presumably he went to Gretna follwing discharge.
1921 census listed as ex Gretna worker. Is dwelling with Elizabeth, Harriet and William Joseph.
1939- living at 78 Buchanan Rd, Carlisle, a railway engine maintenance labourer and staff rep. Daughter Harriet is working at the tin box factory.
George died on 8th April 1968 at 78 Buchanan Road, Carlisle .
