Michael Bousfield ( sometimes listed incorrectly as Bonfield ) was born in Hartley, Kirby Stephen, Westmorland on 1st January 1871 to Thomas Bousfield and Sarah nee Hastwell. The 1871 census lists his father as a butcher.
1881- living at Hartley, father now a butcher journeyman. Michael the 6th of 9 children. B/B/G/G/B/B/B/B/B
1891- Michael is boarding at 6 Sefton St, Southport – a post office clerk.
April 1897, married Ellen Hughes at Barrow in Furness.
1901- at 2 Beacham RD, Southport with wide Annie, son Henry Hartley Bousfield born Burnley1899 and daughter Dorothy born Southport in 1901. Now a postal clerk.
1911 living at Hereford House, Rockcliffe, Carlisle in 5 rooms. They have only had 2 children. Postal clerk General post office H M Government.
