Percy John Willmott 1874- 1951

Percy John Willmott was born on 6th April 1874 at Cripplegate, London Town to William a machine printer and Jane nee Shimmins/Shimmens

1881 – living at Fann Street, Cripplegate – his sister head of household.

1892- enlisted aged 18 to Border Regiment , serving in South Africa and Malta.

18th December 1897 married Sarah Ann Amer at Carlisle and subsequently had 6 children one dying in infancy

December 1898- daughter born in Malta

1909- living in Sheffield – son born there.

1911 – 3rd Border Regiment living at 21 Peel Street, Newtown, Carlisle , an army colour sergeant

1914 – reenlisted being “ allowed to stay beyond his 21 years” (service record) – address given was The Castle, Carlisle – role a mobilization storekeeper

8th February 1917 – initiated into Border City Lodge of Freemasons. Described as “ warrant officer Border regiment “

Deployed to H M Factory Gretna

1919- discharged from armed service with disability aged 45

1921 – Percy John, Sarah Ann, Daisy May and 4 others are on this record. Listed as an ex or retired Gretna worker

1939- 25 Peel Street, Newtown, Carlisle. A military pensioner- army.

18th June 1951 – died at 25 Peel Street, Newtown Carlisle aged 78
