Robert Stoddart Bailey was born on 12th September 1899 in Carlisle to William George Bailey and Sarah possibly nee Wilkinson.
1901-Living at 11 Russell Street, Rickergate, Carlisle . Father a general labourer.
1911- Living at 4 Mary’s Court, South John Street, Bothchergate, Carlisle. 3 rooms for 9 people. Father a window cleaner. Robert the middle of 7 at home. 10 children had been born and 3 died.
WW1- Robert being too young for military service was employed at H M Factory, Gretna. The 1921 census lists him as an ex Gretna worker probably in some manual role.
1921 – listed in Carlisle as living at home with William G, Sarah plus 3 others.
July 1923- married Nora[h] Mulvey a message girl, in Carlisle.
1939 Robert an ash bin man for the Corporation living at 39 Raven Street, Carlisle . It is not clear – whether Robert and Sarah had any children.
