Sarah Ann Harrison 1882-1953
Sarah Anne Harrison was born at Cummersdale, Carlisle to John and Matilda nee Sampson, on 8th December 1882.
1891- living at 20 Dale St, Caldewgate, Carlisle . Father a machine printer. Sarah the middle child of 7.G/B/B/G/G/G/B
1901- living at Holme Head Row, Denton St, Carlisle. Father a foreman calico machine printer. Sarah aged 19 is a cotton winder.
1911 – living at 90, Denton Street, Carlisle. 5 rooms. Sarah at 29 is a general domestic servant. Ther have been 10 children with 7 surviving.
1916- 1918/19 – Sarah employed at H M Factory Gretna . She is listed in 1921 as an ex Gretna worker. Given her usual occupation it is highly likely that she worked as a munitionette.
28th January 1922 she married William Hamilton Gardiner and had a daughter Vera in January 1923.
1939. William an electrician. They are living at 22a, Norfolk Street, Carlisle which is where she died on 31st August 1953.
