Trivia / any other information:

Stewart was called Clifford Stewart Phipps when he was born and seems to have reversed his name, maybe for professional reasons. In 1911 he is a violinist boarding in Hartlepool. By 1913 he has been appointed musical director at the Clarence Picture House in Newport, and in 1916 he has become the musical director at King’s Cinema, Perth.

Stewart is recorded on the Gretna electoral roll as Clerk. He is Leader of the Orchestra and violinist for the production of “Cheero! Gretna” in July 1917 (Dumfries and Galloway Standard 25th July 1917) and “The Gondoliers” in December 1918.

By 1923 Stewart is the musical director and violinist at the Futurist Cinema in Rhyl, and in 1939 he is a music teacher in Liverpool.
