Thomas Horner was born in Settle, North Yorkshire, on 6th July 1890 to William and Sarah Ann nee Milner
1891- Church Street, Settle. Father a painter and paperhanger. Thomas is the 2nd child.
1901- now the eldest of 3. Father’s occupation and family address have NOT CHAMGED.
1911- LIVING AT Market Place , Settle. 7 rooms He is now a house painter. The eldest of 4 surviving children ( 5 had been born)
WW1 – attested in February 1915 and the address given on his service record is Market Place, Settle and occupation painter and decorator.
June 1917 , the above is crossed out to age 26 years 11 months, detective, munitions. Suffering from varicose eczema.
Employed in Gretna Factory Police and living at West Hill Police Barracks, Gretna. Also sourced from electoral register.
18th December 1917 married Elizabeth Ellen Hacking at Burnley. There is an indication not verified that he served as a Police Constable in Burnley and Blackburn . Elizabeth also worked at the Factory. See separate entry.
