Thomas Thomson Steel 1864-1923
Thomas Thomson Steel was born in Dornock village on 7th July 1864 to William and Elizabeth nee Thomson. The 8th of 9 children.
1871- living in Dornock Village, father a sheep dealer.
1881- living in Dornock village. Working as a railway porter
1891 – living at brother in laws at 19 Belgrave St, Over Darwen, Lancashire- a fruit salesman
September 1891 married Mary Alice Ainsworth in Blackburn
1901- 20 Star Street, Darwen, Lancashire. A carter for a potato merchant.3 children
1911-Railway Porter living at 1 Alton St, Carlisle. 4 children, 2 survived. 5 rooms
WW1 – too old for military service. Employed at Gretna
1921 – listed as an ex or retired Gretna worker. Thomas , Mary Alice and William are on the record in Carlisle
Died late 1923 at 32 Grosvenor Street, Carlisle. Buried 11th December 1923 aged 60 at Dornock Cemetery ( Rigg Cemetery)
