Wilfred Bell 1892- 1961

Wilfred Bell was born on 14th July 1892 in Carlisle, Cumberland to Joseph and Isabella nee Graham

1901- living at 75 Trinity Buildings, Carlisle. Father a plumber.

1911- a private in the 3rd Dragoon Guards living at Wellington Lines Aldershot.

4th November 1916 – married Eleanor ‘Nellie’ McFarline Richardson Ainslie

November 1917 – discharged from short service attestation under Paragraph 392 – no longer fit for active service. Address on service records is 57 Trinity Buildings, Carlisle. An old injury to left thigh sustained whilst driving a wagon – met with an accident. Result was broken leg .”Leg shortened a good inch. Wears a boot with rubber pad “
December 1917 onwards – employed at Gretna

1921 – Wilfred, Eleanor and Lizzie are on the record in Carlisle. Wilfred listed as an ex Gretna worker

1930 – Nellie died

1939 – widowed – 19 Lewthwaite Square, Carlisle. Gas works stoker – heavy worker

11th February 1961 -of 69, Thomlinson Avenue, Carlisle. Died aged 69. Effects to Isabella Lizzie Bell his daughter – probate wrongly states Isabella is his widow.
