John Vevers 1849-1928
John Vevers was born at Longtown, near Carlisle, Cumberland in 1849 to George and Catherine nee Graham. 1851- living at Swan Street, Longtown. Both parents Scottish. Father a carrier. 1861-Father dead. Mother a dressmaker. Living at Bridge Street, Longtown 3rd September 1876- married Jane Nicolson of Egremont, West Cumberland at Ryton, Durham 1881- Living at Netherby Street, Arthuret, Longtown, a railor and local preacher . 1 child born in Durham. 1891-same address. Still one son. No occupation listed for John. 1901- 11, Netherby Street, Tailor and local preacher. One boarder – a physician. 1911- 8, Netherby Street, a tailor. A grandchild also resident in 4 rooms. WW1 – Yardsman at Gretna aged 68 1921- John, Jane , vera Winifred and 2 others on the record at Artrhuret. 1928 Q4 – died at Longtown aged 79
