Dumfries and Galloway Standard – Wednesday 17 January 1917

WOMAN MUNITION WORKER FINED Dumfries yesterday—before Sheriff Campion– Maria Armstrong, a munition worker, pleaded guilty committing breach of the peace in hostel Gretna on Monday. Mr James Kissock, depute fiscal, stated that accused was the worse of drink and used very threatening language towards the matron, and said she would murder her, and twist her neck. The Sheriff said they must put stop to this disgraceful conduct, and imposed a fine £3, with the alternative of fourteen days’ imprisonment.
