Thomas Gate Nixon was born on 6th March 1866 in Carlisle, Cumberland to William and Jane nee Armstrong. He was the 3rd of 5 born. 4 surviving.

1871- living at 4 Mill Street, Botchergate, Carlisle. Father a marble mason

1881- 57 Nelson Street, Caldewgate, Carlisle, a lithographic printer aged 15.

WW1 – too old for military service. Employed at Gretna

1921 – Thomas Gate and Joseph Barnes are on the record in Carlisle. Thomas listed as an ex or retired Gretna worker

1939 – 22 Eden Street, Carlisle. Railway employee lampman retired.

Q1 1949- died Carlisle aged 83
