Tom Bonsor 1895-1959

Tom Bonsor was born in Hawick , Roxburghshire in 1895 to James a hosiery manufacturer and Margaret[Maggie McAdam  neeDickson

1911 – short attestation to territorials

1916- discharged “as medically unfit due to a long standing imflammation of stomach aggravated by most foods.”

Worked as a clerk at a prisoner of war camp – source – service record. Further details of his condition also recorded in his military record.

5th January 1918- married Annie Tait  a milliner at Hawick.  He a wages clerk, munitions works. Tom’s address on marriage registration given as Burnside Cottage, Cummertrees.

October 1918 – announcement of birth of a daughter at Gretna in Hawick Express – Friday 11 October 1918. Address given- A6 V East 12

23rd January 1959 died at Buchleuch Mills, Green Lane , Hawick, usual residence 8 Drumlanrig Square Hawick, of Coronary thrombosis aged 63. Hosiery director and manager.
